Ultrasound-Guided Aesthetics in Scottsdale
See more. Understand more. Treat with intention.
At The Beauty Fix, ultrasound-guided aesthetics are part of how we approach advanced treatment planning in Scottsdale. It allows us to look beneath the surface and better understand the anatomy, tissue layers, previous filler and treatment planes before deciding what—or whether—to treat.
Ultrasound doesn’t replace an experienced injector. It gives an experienced injector more information.
Anatomy first. Treatment second.
Why We Use Ultrasound in Aesthetic Medicine
What we see on the surface doesn’t always tell the whole story. Ultrasound allows us to visualize beneath the skin in real time and gather information that may change how we approach a treatment.
We can use ultrasound to evaluate tissue layers, identify the location and depth of previous filler, visualize important anatomy and help determine the appropriate treatment plane.
For us, it isn’t about using ultrasound just to say we use it. It’s about having more information before making a treatment decision.
How We Use Ultrasound at The Beauty Fix
Ultrasound isn’t reserved for one specific treatment. We use it when seeing beneath the surface can give us information that helps guide the treatment plan.
We commonly use ultrasound when assessing previous dermal filler, targeted filler dissolving, Renuva and LipoDerma treatments, as well as when we need a better understanding of the anatomy or tissue plane before treatment.
It can also help answer an important question we ask often: Does this area actually need more product—or do we need to understand what is already there first?
What Can We See With Ultrasound?
Aesthetic ultrasound gives us a real-time view beneath the skin. Depending on the area and reason for the assessment, we may be able to visualize:
- Previous dermal filler — including where it is located and at what depth
- Facial anatomy and tissue layers — helping us better understand the area before treatment
- Blood vessels — adding another layer of anatomical information when appropriate
- Treatment planes — helping us evaluate where a product should be placed
- Areas of concern — especially when something doesn’t look or feel the way expected after previous treatment
Sometimes the most valuable information ultrasound gives us is knowing when not to inject.
Ultrasound-Guided Filler Assessment & Dissolving
Previous filler isn’t always where we expect it to be. It may remain in the tissue longer than anticipated, sit at a different depth, or contribute to fullness that can be difficult to evaluate from the surface alone.
Before automatically adding more filler—or dissolving an entire area—we can use ultrasound to better understand what is actually present.
At The Beauty Fix, we prefer a targeted, intentional approach to dissolving. When appropriate, ultrasound can help us identify where filler is located and focus treatment on the areas that actually need correction rather than assuming everything needs to be dissolved.
See it first. Then decide what needs to be done.

Ultrasound-Guided Renuva & LipoDerma Treatments
With regenerative and adipose-based treatments, depth and placement matter. Ultrasound allows us to evaluate the tissue and better understand the treatment plane before and during treatment when appropriate.
At The Beauty Fix, we use ultrasound as part of our approach to treatments such as Renuva and LipoDerma, particularly when restoring facial volume and support.
The goal isn’t simply to add volume. It’s to understand where support has been lost, which tissue layer we are treating, and where the product belongs.
Restore with intention—not just volume.
Ultrasound Is a Tool—Not a Substitute for Expertise
Ultrasound can provide valuable information, but the technology itself doesn’t make treatment decisions. Understanding facial anatomy, recognizing what we’re seeing on the screen, and knowing how that information should influence a treatment plan still requires clinical experience.
At The Beauty Fix, ultrasound is used alongside an anatomy-first assessment and individualized treatment planning. We don’t believe every area needs more filler, every previous filler needs to be dissolved, or every patient should receive the same treatment.
The technology gives us another way to see. Experience tells us what to do with that information.
Who May Benefit From an Ultrasound Assessment?
An ultrasound assessment may be helpful if you:
- Have previous facial filler and aren’t sure what is still present
- Have fullness, puffiness, asymmetry or an area that doesn’t look the way you expected
- Are considering targeted filler dissolving
- Have had multiple treatments over time and want a better understanding of what is in the tissue
- Are considering Renuva or LipoDerma and want an anatomy-first treatment plan
- Have been told you simply need “more filler,” but want a more thorough assessment first
- Want a conservative, individualized approach rather than automatically adding or removing product
Patients visit The Beauty Fix in North Scottsdale for ultrasound assessment because sometimes the right treatment plan starts with understanding what is already beneath the surface.
